2008 Gelding
Incentive Program

ABOUT OUR GELDING INCENTIVE PROGRAM

Propose:
The purpose of the Gelding Incentive Program is to encourage owners to show their geldings and to geld all but the very best stallions/colts, thereby improving the quality of the breed.

Who is eligible?
All geldings entered in Norcal High Point approved shows are eligible.

Nomination procedure:
An annual fee of $10 will be charged for each gelding entered. A separate form is required for each gelding nominated. Nominations, including appropriate fee, must be postmarked within 30 days of a show in order for points from that show to count. Members are encouraged to indicate on their show entry sheets if a gelding is entered in the Gelding Incentive Program. Nomination forms may be sent to Gelding Incentive Chairman at the address on the form.

Classifications:
Gelding incentive awards will be given in the following three categories:
1) Junior gelding/halter/performance
2) Senior gelding/halter
3) Senior gelding/performance
Points will be earned on the same basis (1-6 points plus 3/5/10 for championships) as that used for High Point awards. Only those points earned as a gelding will count. Halter and performance points will be combined for junior geldings due to the limited number of performance categories open to them.

How do Gelding Incentive Awards differ from High point awards?
In order to encourage owners to enter their geldings in a wider variety and number of classes, all points earned in youth, amateur, open, AOTE, and challenged classes, will be added together.

Funding:
The Gelding Incentive Program will be funded by nomination fees and donations from the membership and outside supporters.

Awards:
Awards will be purchased by the members of the Gelding Incentive Committee. After that expense has been subtracted, the remaining balance will be divided among the winners. Awards will be presented to first, second and third place in the three categories outlined above. There is neither a minimum nor maximum cash award set. Sixty percent of money left over after purchase of awards will be divided evenly among the three first place winners. Twenty five percent will be divided evenly among the three second place winners, and fifteen percent will be divided evenly among the three third place winners.
